While preparing for a morning conference, Principal Corsetti is laying out 8 dozen bagels on square plates. Each plate can hold 14 bagels.

a. How many plates of bagels will Mr. Corsetti have?

b. How many more bagels would be needed to fill the final plate with bagels?

    Total bagels = 8 dozen

    We know that 1 dozen = 12

    So

    8 dozen = 8 x 12 = 96 bagels

    Each plate can hold 14 bagels

    So total number of plates of bagels = 96/14

    total number of plates of bagels = 6.85

    Plate can not be in fraction So nearest integer will be 7.

    So total 7 plates have Mr. Corsetti.

    Now to fill 7 plates completely = 7 x 14=98

    It means that 2 more plates will needed.
