    lions=105 elephants=252

    Step-by-step explanation:

    We know that there is a total of 375 lions and elephants. We also know the ratio of those. With these two we can build an equation that gives us the exact number of each of the two species.

    We can multiply the ratio by x:

    (5/12) * (x/x)

    now we have:

    5x/12x

    we input these new data into the total number of both animals:

    5x+12x=357

    17x=357

    x=357/17

    x=21

    remember x is not the number of any of the animals

    number of lions is 5x=5*21=105

    number of elephants is 12x=12*21=252
