    Divide the perimeter by 2:

22/2 = 11, the sum of the length and with is 11 inches.

The length is 1 inch longer, so now subtract 1 and divide by 2 to geth the width:

    11 - 1 = 10 / 2 = 5

The width is 5 inches, the length is 6 inches.

Now check to see if the area works: 6 x 5 = 30 square inches (True).
