Write 1 1/4 as a repeating or terminating decimal

    1 is a whole number so it stays before the decimal.

    Divide 1 by 4.

    1 : 4 = 0.25

    Now add the whole number to the fraction.

    1 + 0.25 = 1.25

    This is not repeating, therefore it is a terminating decimal.
