A map uses a scale of 1 in. : 20 mi. If the distance between two cities on the map is 1.5

inches, what is the actual distance between the cities?

    So we know 1 in on a map is 20 miles in real life (irl).

    So we can multiply whatever distance on the map, by 20:

    1.5 * 20 = 30 miles.
