Does a raw score less than the mean correspond to a positive or negative standard score? What about a raw score greater than the mean?

    A raw score less than the mean correspond to a negative standard score.

    For example, if we have a negative standard score of - 5, it is 5 standard deviations below the mean.

    A raw score greater than the mean correspond to a positive standard score.

    For example, if we have a positive standard score of 5, it is 5 standard deviations above the mean.
