Ann and Carol are driving their cars along the same straight road. Carolis located at x=2.4 mi at t=0 hand drives at a steady 36 mph. An n, who is traveling in the same direction, is located at x=0.0 mi at t=0.50 hand drives at a steady 50mph.

    Carol: x=2.4 mi at t=0 v=36 mph

    For Ann

    S = S₀ + vt

    0 = S₀ + 50.0.5

    0 = S₀ + 25

    S₀ = - 25

    ∴ Sann = - 25 + 50t

    For Carol

    S = S₀ + vt

    Scarol = 2.4 + 36t

    Sann = Scarol

    -25 + 50t = 2.4 + 36t

    50t - 36t = 2.4 + 25

    Scarol = 2.4 + 36t
