    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let x be number of adult tickets.

    number of children tickets = 370 - x

    Cost of x adult tickets = x * 6 = 6x

    Cost of (370-x) children tickets = (370-x) * 2.5 = 370*2.5 - x*2.5 = 925 - 2.5x

    6x + 925 - 2.5x = 1723

    3.5x + 925 = 1723

    3.5x = 1723 - 925

    3.5x = 798

    x = 798/3.5 = 7980/35

    x = 228

    Number of adult tickets sold = 228

    Number of children tickets sold = 370 - 228 = 142
