The ratio of the side lengths of Figure A to the side lengths of Figure B is 3 : 5. The area of the smaller figure is 36 square inches. What is the area of the larger figure?

    Since the ratio is 3:5, we can write it as the fraction 3/5. then do 3/5=36/x and now solves for x. cross multiply and you get 3x=180. divide by 3 and x=60. and that's the area of the larger
