    x^3-3x^2+5x-3=x^3-x^2-2x^2+2x+3x-3

    =x^2 (x-1) - 2x (x-1) + 3 (x-1)

    = (x-1) (x^2-2x+3)

    i think you are missing something.

    if base area=x^2-2x+3

    then height=x-1
