    Ax^2+bx+c=0

expanded, that is the x term

    in

(ax+c) (dx+e), the coefient of the b term is cd+ae

    so

    (2x-1) (1x+5)

    the b term is (-1) (1) + (2) (5) = - 1+10=9

    b is 9
