    Subtraction Property of Equality. Subtract 5 on both sides to get 7x=6. Then do the Division Property of equality to get x =.86

    X = 16/7 Because if you substitute - 5 in for y you get x = 16/7 and you can check by plugging in 16/7 in for x and you get - 5 for y so your answer is: x=16/7
