how many times does 10 go into 20? 2 times

now we can add the fractions because they have a common denominator

this can not be simplified.

multiply by 5 for 1/4
1 (5) / 4 (5) = 5/20
multiply by 2 for 3/10
3 (2) / 10 (2) = 6/20
5/20+6/20=11/20
