A 48ft wire is cut into 3 pieces. The 2nd is three times as long as the first piece. The third piece is 4 times as long as the second piece. How long is each piece?

    small=x

    median=3x

    big=12x

    x+3x+12x=48

    16x=48

    x=3

    3=small

    3*3=9 (median)

    9*4=36 (big)
