First you add 1/3 to both sides and subtract 1/6x from both sides:
1/6x+2/3=1/4x-1/3
+1/3 + 1/3
1/6x+2/3+1/3=1/4x
-1/6x - 1/6x
SO you now have:
2/3+1/3=1/4x-1/6x
=3/3or1=3/12x-2/12x
=1=1/12x
=1:1/12=x
=1*12/1=x
=12=x
