    2x + y = 3 ... (*)

    -2y = 14 - 6x ... (**)

    use (*) : y = 3-2x

    put this value in (**):

    -2 (3-2x) = 14-6x

    -6+4x = 14 - 6x

    10x=20 so : x = 20/10=2

    but : y = 3-2x so : y = 3-2 (2) = - 1
