    This problem requires the knowledge of the area of a rectangle.

    The area of any rectangle is Area=Length•Width.

    Since the maximum area is 3003.04 cm² and the width is 16 cm, you the area and length into this equation.

    3003.04=16•Width

    To solve for your width you must divide 3003.04 by 16.

    3003.04:16=187.69

    So the greatest possible width of Carmen's painting is 187.69.
