Rachel is painting one wall of her room with a pattern of squares. She want to alternate between red squares with an area of 25 square inches and blue squares with an area of 16 inches.

Part A: find the side length of each square. Show or explain your work.

Part B: if she has enough room to place 12 of each type of square with not space between them, how long is the wall? Explain your reasoning.

    A (square) = side², then side = √ (A)

    A1 = 25 in², then side1 = √ (25) = 5 in

    A2 = 16 in², then side2 = √ (16) = 4 in

    Part B.

    12*5 in + 12 * 4 in = 60 + 48 = 108 in

    length of the wall = 108 in
