    Step-by-step explanation:

    4 quarts=1 gallon

    1 quart=1/4 gallon

    6 quarts 1/4*6=6/4 gallons=3/2 gallons = 1 1/2 gallons

or we can say 4 quarts=1 gallon

    2 quarts=1/2 gallon

    (4+2=6) quarts = (1+1/2) = 1 1/2 gallon.
