    Philip is 5 years old and Jon is 19 years old now.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Step 1:

    Let x be the age of Philip Now

    Since Jon is 14 years older than Philip,

    Age of Jon = 14 + x

    Step 2:

    After 2 years,

    Age of Philip = x + 2

    Age of Jon = 14+x+2 = 16+x

    Step 3:

    Given that in 2 years, Jon will be 3 times as old as Philip.

    So we have 16 + x = 3 (x+2)

    => 16 + x = 3x + 6

    => 2x = 10 = x = 5

    Hence age of Philip is 5 years

    Age of jon = x + 14 = 5 + 14 = 19 years
