Steps:
x^2 + 9x + 14
Find out the factors of 14
14: 1, 2, 7, 14
The factors can both be positive and negative:
14: - 1, - 2, - 7, - 14
Find a pair of factors (that makes up 14 when multiplied together), that can be added to make positive 9.
14 = 2 multiply by 7 2 + 7 = 9
First put the x's down in two different brackets:

Now put the numbers in:
(x + 2) (x + 7)
