Perimeter is the length of the outside of something so for example then outside of your fence is 5ft perimeter. While area is the complete surface everything so your area of the fence could be 25 ft

Perimeter is the area around an object. Area is the, well, area in the object.

If we had a square with each side possessing a length of 4, the perimeter would be 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 for every side. So the perimeter would be 20. Yet area would be one side times another, length times width. 4 x 4. So the area is 16.
