f (x) = 3x + 1
f - 1 = 3x + 1-1
= 3x
f (x) - 1 = 3x
then f (2) = 3*2+1
=6+1
f (2) = 7.
f (-1) = 3 * (-1) + 1
= - 3+1
f (-1) = - 2
