The Boy Scouts collected and stored three tons of old newspapers during a paper drive. They need to load them up to move them. If they carry 30 lb. at a time, and there are 12 boys, how many trips will each boy have to make?

    W = 30lb * 12 = 360lb per trip.

    The total amount of newspaper is:

    Wp = 3tons = 6613.86lb Divided by the amount they carry on each trip:

    N = 6613.86 / 360 = 18.37 This means that all of them will have to make 18trips. But in 18 trips they only carry 18*360 = 6480lb. There would be 133.86lb left.

    133.86 / 30lb = 4.46 BoyScouts. This means one extra trip for 5 of them
