    a). The first set; 2 by 6 by 6 inches

    b). The second; 8 by 3 by 3 inches

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Step 1: Determine the formula of the volume

    Volume=length*width*height

    Step 2: Assume one width

    Use width=2 inches, and solve for length and height

    Step 3: Substitute

    width=2 inches

    length=height=x

    volume=72 cubic inches

    72=2*x²

    x²=72/2=36

    x=√36=6 inches

    The first set; 2 by 6 by 6 inches

    Step 3: Assume the length

    Assume length=8 inches

    width=height=y

    volume=72

    replacing;

    72=8*y²

    y²=72/8=9

    y=√9=3

    The second set of measurement is 8 by 3 by 3 inches
