standard form is Ax + By = C where A, B and C are all integers.
y=5/3x-6/8 First, multiply by LCD 24:
24y = 40x - 18
40x - 24y = 18
Division by 2 is recommended (this is because 6/8 should have been reduced to 24, making LCD just 12):
20x - 12y = 9
