Solve - 20 = x/-2 + 1

    X = 42

    Multiply each term by (-2) to get rid of the denominator.

    The equation becomes

    40=x-2

    Add 2 to each side.

    X = 42

    -20 = 42/-2 + 1

    -20 = - 21 + 1

    -20 = - 20
