2x - 8 = 3x + 2 + x - 6
2x-8 = 3x+x+2-6
2x-8 = 4x-4
Move 4x to the other side.
Sign changes from + 4x to - 4x.
2x-4x-8 = 4x-4x-4
2x-4x-8=-4
-2x-8 = - 4
move - 8 to the other side
sign changes from - 8 to + 8
-2x-8+8 = - 4+8
-2x = 4
divide by - 2
-2x/-2=-4/2
cross out - 2 and - 2, divide by 2 and then becomes x
x = - 2
Answer : x = - 2
