the way I factor is the sum of the products of a*c = b, so - 3*2 is - 6. the products of - 6 that equal 5 is 6 and - 1. replace it in the equation. 2x^2+6x-1x-3. factor out each half 2x (x+3) and - 1 (x+3). now we take the repeated factor and outside factor to get (2x-1) (x+3)
