First for 9 and 12 there are two negitive signs so it turns positive so you get - 9+12-17-4 so you add - 9 and 12 which is 3 so you now have 3-17-4 so subtract 17 from 3 to get - 14 so your equasion will look like this - 14-4 and that equals - 18
