Cindy owns a candy store and sells individual candies as well as mixes. Her most popular mixture is the chocolate and mint collection. The ratio of chocolate to mints in this candy mix is 3 to 5. If she is mixing 7pounds of the mix, how many pounds are chocolates?

    Call chocolate 'c' and mint 'm'.

    -> c=3m/5.

    Since c+m = 7 (lbs)

    ->3m/5 + m = 7

    Solve m = 35/8 ~4.4 lbs

    ->c = 2.6 lbs
