(3/4) / 1 = (7/4) / x

cross multiply

(3/4) (x) = (1) (7/4)

3/4x = 7/4 ... multiply both sides by 4/3, cancelling out the 3/4

x = 7/4 * 4/3

x = 7/3 or 2 1/3 miles <===
