If Ali bought 5 bags of almonds, then he had 5 * 2 = 10 cups of almonds.

    For one granola he needs 2 1/3 cups, so for 2 1/2 batches of granola he'll need 2 1/3 * 2 1/2 of cups:

    2 1/3 * 2 1/2 =

    = 7/3 * 5/2 =

    = 35/6 =

    = 5 5/6 [cups]

    So if Ali has 10 cups and he'll use 5 5/6 cups, then he'll have 10 - 5 5/6 = 4 1/6 cups left over.
