I woul d say 3 tablespoons of milk or 3 times he used a tablespoon. In other words, he started with 2 3/4 fluid ounces and ended up with 1 1/4 fluid ounces so used up 1 1/2 fluid ounces of milk which is equal to 1 1/2/1/2 = 3 tablespoons since one tablespoon is equal to 1/2 fluid ounce.
