State the vertical asymptote of the rational function.

f (x) = (x-3) (x+4) / x^2-1

    To find the vertical asymptote we set x^2 - 1 = 0 since we cannot divide by 0

    x^2 - 1 = 0

    x^2 = 1

    x = + / - 1 this means that there is a vertical asymptote at x = 1 and x = - 1.
