Trevor took one of his friends out to lunch. The lunches cost $248.40 and he paid 12.5% sales tax. If Trevor left a 15% tip on the $248.40, how much in total did he pay?

    - - 15% of the cost as a tip (15% = 0.15 of it)

    - - 12% of the cost as sales tax (12% = 0.12 of it)

    Total that he paid = (1.00 + 0.15 + 0.12) = 1.27 of $248.40

    = $315.47.
