Is the value of the first 4 in 4043 ten times as great as the second 4? Why or why not?

It is not. You can take the first 4 and times (x) it by 10 and you would get 40. well if you do the same thing but multiply it 10 times greater then the first number (10 x 10 = 100) then you take that number (which would be 100) then times it by 4 then you would get 400.
