What is the value of x in the equation 3 (4x + 6) = 21?

    3 (4x + 6) = 21

    3 • 4x = 12x

    3•6 = 18

    12x + 18 = 21

    -18 - 18

    12x = 3

    divide 12 by both sides.

    x = 4
