Oliver id hosting a pasta party for his running group the night before the big race. He is expecting 11 members of the group to attend, plus himself. Oliver knows that a 16oz box of pasta serves 8 people. He also knows that he needs to make 1/4 cup of tomato sauce per serving of pasta. How many ounces of tomato sauce will Oliver need to make the party?

    11 members of the group plus himself = 12 people

    1/4 cup per person * 12 people = 1/4 * 12 cups = 12/4 cups = 3 cups

    He needs 3 cups of sauce.

    1 cup = 8 fluid ounces

    3 cups = 3 * 8 fluid ounces

    3 cups = 24 fluid ounces

    Answer: 24 fluid ounces
