A pack of gum costs 75cents. That is 3cents less than three times what the pack cost 20 years ago. Which equation could be used to find the cost of the gum 20 years ago

    3x-3=75, add 3 to both sides and get 3x=78. You divide 78 by 3 and get x=26. So a pack of gum 20 yrs ago cost 26 cents.
