    First you need to distribute the 4.5 onto (p+3):

    4.05p + 14.4 = 4.5p + 13.5

    Now you subtract 4.05p from both sides:

    14.4 =.45p + 13.5

    Now you subtract 13.5 from both sides:

    .9 =.45p

    Now divide both sides by. 45:

    P = 2
