    2 [ (x) + (3x - 4) ] = 88

    2 [ x + 3x - 4 ] = 88

    2 [ 4x - 4 ] = 88

    4x - 4 = 44

    4x = 40

    x = 10 cm [ width]

    3 (10) - 4 = 26 cm [length]
