In a garden, there are 5 tulip trees and 7 palm trees. Which ratio shows the number of tulip trees to the number of palm trees?

    Answer: Hi! if you have 5 tulip trees and 7 palm trees, then the ratio between them is "for each tulip tree which is the number of palm trees?"

    You can see that for eac tulip tree you have 7/5 palm trees.

    so the ratio is 5 to 7, or 5:7

    this means that the you have 5 of one thing (tulip trees) for each 7 of the other thing (palm trees), and give us a relation between the number of each type of tree,.
