    3 (2x - 5) - 8x = - 2 (x - 1)

    Use the distributive property:

    6x-15 - 8x = - 2x + 2

    Combine like terms:

    -2x - 15 = - 2x + 2

Since both sides have - 2x, but the other numbers are not the same, this equation does not have a solution.
