James, Mary, and Tess are buying groceries for a barbeque. They will each pay a portion of the $78.00 bill for groceries. Mary will pay for 1/3 of the bill, Tess will pay for 42% of the bill. write a decimal number that represents the approximate portion james will pay. round the awnser to the nearest hundredth. Explain how you found your awnser

    1 - 1/3 + 42/100 = How much james will pay. So 1 - 100/300 + 126/300 = X, 1 - 226/300 = x. X = 74/300 of the bill. 74/300 x 78.00 is 19.24 dollars. That is how much James will have to pay.
