    t.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    (t + t + 2) / 2 = x

    (2t + 2) / 2 = x

    x = t + 1

    (t + t - 2) / 2 = y

    y = t - 1

    So the average of x and y

    = (x + y) / 2 = (t + 1 + t - 1) / 2

    = 2y / 2

    = t.
