substitute y = 3x-12 into - 4x + 3y = - 11
-4x + 3 (3x-12) = - 11
distribute
-4x + 9x-36 = - 11
combine like terms
5x - 36 = - 11
add 36 to each side
5x = 25
divide each side by 4
x = 5
noe we need to find y
y = 3x - 12
y = 3 (5) - 12
= 15 - 12
y = 3
answer (5,3)
