A certain television is advertised as a 17 inch TV if the width of the TV is 8 inches how many inches tall is the tv

    A^2+b^2=c^2

    8^2+b^2=17^2

    64+b^2=289

    b^2=225

    b=15

    The TV would be 14 inches tall.

    (I used Pythagorean theorem)

    note: TVs are advertised by the length going diagonally across
