There are only two steps to solve this problem.
The first step is to multiply the whole number (8) by the numerator (1). 8 times 1 equals 8, so 8 is our new numerator and our fraction should look like: 8/4.
The second step is to simplify it down even further. To do so, you need to figure our what multiples by 4 to get the answer of 8. 4 times what equals 8? The answer should be 2, since 4 times 2 multiples to 8.
The answer is: 2.
