    Answer: x = - (1/2)

    Step-by-step explanation:

    (x+5 + 3) / x+3 = 3

    Multiply both sides by (x+3)

    (x+8) = 3 (x+3)

    x+8 = 3x+9

    -2x = 1

    x = - 1/2

    CHECK:

    -1/2 + 8 = 15/2 - 1/2+3 = 5/2

    15/2 : 5/2 = 15/2 * (2/5) = 30/10 = 3
